Ariton Honoring Town’s Notables

By Christina Faulkner

The Town of Ariton is honoring its notable citizens by naming streets for them. Blues legend Big Mama Thornton and long-time math teacher Mary Vic Paramore are two of the names that will grace the streets of Ariton.

Mary Vic Paramore Way already graces what was once known as Church Street. A street sign located near the Ariton Universalist Center was the scene of an unveiling ceremony during the 2022 Ariton School Homecoming Parade held last month.
