  4. Carroll High’s Basketball Teams Prevail Against G.W. Long Despite Rebels’ Strong Efforts

    It was a strong night overall for the Carroll Eagles as all three of the school’s teams, the Boys Junior Varsity, the Girls Varsity, and the Boys Varsity, each played a game against the G.W. Long Rebels. The Boys JV team kicked the evening off, playing the first game of the night. The team managed to defeat the G.W. Long Rebels, 38-28.

However, the page is neither sanctioned by nor administered by the City of Ozark despite displaying the City’s emblem and using its website. Over 1,000 people are followers of the page, including several city officials who are attempting to monitor the page’s posts.

  10. Fort Rucker Soldier Dies in Altercation

    The U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Rucker announced Wednesday the death of an Advanced Individual Training Soldier. Pvt. Abdul N. Latifu, of the Bronx, New York City, died Tuesday, January 10 from injuries sustained during an incident with another soldier David Agan, Jr. with Fort Rucker Public Affairs Office stated in a press release on Wednesday January 11.

    Additional reports revealed his attacker, whose identity has not yet been released, was arrested Tuesday after brutally attacking Latifu with an entrenching tool, a small steel folding shovel.

These improvements will allow the center to begin offering medical services to the women and families of Dale County. The center provides all of its services free of charge so that no woman will face obstacles receiving the mentoring and support they may need during what can be the most challenging time of their life.

  17. City’s Administration Sees Changes Taking Place for Start of 2023

    Citizens of Ozark will see several changes within the city’s administration in the upcoming year. Chief Phillip Prince retired at the end of 2022, and City Clerk Denise Strickland is planning her retirement this coming April. The City Council approved a motion to reorganize administrative positions during a November 2022 City Council meeting. Additionally, the council unanimously voted to appoint Charles Ward (Chief of Ozark Police Department) as Director of Public Safety. Ward’s position became effective January 1.

    The City of Ozark was granted a reprieve this Christmas season as Dale Medical Center agreed to cover 50% of asbestos abatement costs at the former Ozark Dale County Library building in exchange for a deed to the city-owned property on which the building sits.
