Newton – Newton Elementary School (NES) was surprised by a special visit from Alabama Governor Kay Ivey on Monday, January 30, 2023. The governor, along with other state and local dignitaries, visited the school to congratulate the students and faculty on its recent achievements. The school was recently honored with two highly-coveted national awards, including being named a 2022 Blue Ribbon School and a 2023 National Elementary and Secondary Education Association (ESEA) Distinguished School.
