Ozark Community Tennis Hosts Homeschooler Tennis Clinic

Ozark Community Tennis and Pickleball has launched a spring tennis clinic for homeschoolers. The clinic is held Thursdays between March 10 and April 14 at the tennis courts at Steagall Park.

Elizabeth Wyse, co-owner, says the new clinic has been very popular. “We have 22 registered students,” Wyse says. “We actually had to close it at 22 and push some towards our pickleball clinic.” This is the first homeschooler clinic that Ozark Community Tennis has hosted.

Friends of Army Aviation Dedicate New Facility

The Friends of Army Aviation dedicated a new hangar facility to Brigadier General David J. Allen on Saturday, March 19 as part of their sixth annual Family Fun Day event. “The original building was 10,000 square feet,” says Lt. Col (Ret.) John “Doc” Holladay, president of Friends of Army Aviation. “We’ve added about 4,500 feet to that.”

Tensions High at McCraney Pretrial Hearing

During a tense pretrial hearing March 17, lawyers David Harrison and Andrew Scarborough, defense attorneys for Coley McCraney, asked Judge William Filmore to compel state prosecutors to turn over additional documents and records, many of which prosecutors say do not exist. McCraney is charged with five counts of murder and one count of rape in the 1999 murders of two 17-year-olds, J. B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett.
