Alabamians will soon see relief at the grocery store after Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed into law a reduction in the state’s taxes on groceries.

The new law will reduce the state’s 4% tax on groceries to 3% beginning September 1. Ivey’s office announced that an additional 1% reduction is possible for 2024 if the state’s budget estimates remain consistent.
